Knitting Project Sock
Knitting help please! (k1, yo, k1, yo, k1) all in one stitch?

I’m making a pair of socks and this is the first time i’ve encountered something like this. I’ve gone to knitting forums and whatnot, but everyone just says to do exactly as it says. I’ve tried and i just make a big knot that I can’t get my needles out of. help please?

Here’s the pattern:

How many stitches is this supposed to create? I may have done it correctly, 1 stitch became 3 stitches.. Is this right?

Yes, that is right — do it just exactly as it says. If you can’t get your needle out of the stitches, you really must have way too much tension on the yarn!! Loosen up!!

It’s nothing hard — you have the directions right there, so do just what it says, and nothing more. Some people try to make it more complicated than it is. Don’t think — just do.

You will end up with 5 stitches out of the one. This makes a bobble — you will work back and forth on those 5 sts for 2 rows and then reduce all 5 back down to one stitch (you will pass all those stitches over one). You are actually making a couple extra rows in that one spot, which puffs out as a bobble. They are cute when the item is finished, but a lot of bother to make. It’s not hard — just a lot of fiddling around.
